_ Age:
38
Job: Senior Biomedical Scientist working in Haematology at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough for the past 6 years.
Open Water swimming experience : Jo is an experienced open water swimmer having competed in OW triathlons as well as OW swims. She has completed the Great North Swim and has been on 2 Swim Trek holidays in the English Lake District. Jo has competed in the Manx Mile for 3 years running, as well as completing the Glucksberg Forde crossing from Denmark to Germany in 2009.
Other sports: Jo has been competing in local triathlons for 8 years, at the sprint distance only!
Her hobbies include horse riding, as she has her own horse, ‘Ellie’; cross-country skiing and climbing (indoor wall only – and not brilliantly!!).
Jo was diagnosed with MS in November 2002 at the end of her first season of triathlon, but it doesn’t hold her back! If the relay succeeds, to the best of our knowledge Jo will be only the second person with MS to take part in a successful Channel relay.
